Let's start with Johanna Mason, just because.
Well, I don't know, it's only my opinion, but for me she was absolutely brilliant as Johanna and I take my hat off to Jena Malone. For me she portrayed this character just right, and I dare to say that she did even more for her. I liked Johanna in a book, but somehow she wasn't a person I'd like to be friends with, I don't know why. Of course it's not because she was too harsh or agry or whatever (oh my God, every person in her situation would be like that, maybe even worse). Anyway, after watching 'Catching Fire' twice in two days, I absolutely love this character, I love her, she was magnificent. Jena is Johanna for me. (and I LOVED her hair!)
About the whole movie:
Jennifer is a genius. I had chills everytime Katniss was freaking out/crying/screaming/whatever, seriously. We all know Lawrence is a brilliant actress, but here... I couldn't imagine a better Katniss Everdeen. I even liked her more than in the first part, and I don't even know why so. So I take my hat off to Jennifer, as well.
Beetee, I ADORE BEETEE. Jeffrey, you portrayed him just right.
Mags. Mags, Mags, Mags. I didn't feel so much for her while reading a book, I mean it was a pity she died, it was sad because she volunteered for Annie, BUT in the movie we can see more, I think, and that's the plus for the whole production. Why? Because in the movies usually we see less than in the book. And here it was different, at least for me. I mean, oh my God, Mags and Finnick. It just broke my heart all the way. I don't even know what I want to say about this relationship, because the movie did it perfectly. End.
So now, FINNICK ODAIR. Perfect, per-fect. Though the 'sugar cube scene' wasn't that amazing. But hell with that. I'll tell you what hit me - that moment after the jabberjays scene when Finnick sat in the water and just watched the horizon. PLUS: the whole Sam's acting. He just IS Finnick. (they even put the poetry scene :33) So I have nothing to say about Sam, except that he did the job, he really did. I BOW TO YOU, MR CLAFLIN.
So, in general the movie was just like the book, and it's not only because the characters had the lines from the book (but they did, anyway!). Mostly because they've showed everything that needed to be showed - and you all know they do that very, very rarely.
I'm not dissapointed in a slightest way. Okay, in a slightest-slightest I am. ANNIE CRESTA. What was that again. What an - sorry for being rude - idiot gave Annie freaking Cresta RED HAIR? WHAT WAS THAT FOR. She can't have red hair, she just can't. She had dark long hair, and of course people can imagine her hair however they want, but there's a rule, okay? The characters are supposed to look like their versions from the book. And Stef doesn't look like Annie in any possible way. That's the thing that pissed me off so much. I know that Annie isn't a big character, but JESUS CHRIST, she was Finnick's, and without her Finnick would never be the person he is now. There's no Finnick Odair as we can see him without Annie Cresta. But we all know that, I believe. The point is, Stef is a bad, bad choice for Annie and I keep saying that despite her acting. Everyone can portray a crazy girl, even I do and I'm not even an actress or something. It's not that hard, really. So where are the looks? Gone or...?
NEVERMIND. 'Catching Fire' was better than the first part and I really enjoyed watching it twice in the cinemas.
(also I liked what they did with the titles - Finnick Odair and right under him Annie Cresta, that was cute *^*)
